Advancing one chapter from yesterday, Isaiah (41:13-20) speaks of our potential in the Lord. The key to this sort of power? Faith. Remember what Jesus said:
Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Mt 17:20)
Hyperbole? Well, I seem to recall reading somewhere that “moving mountains” was an expression used at the time to indicate overcoming major obstacles. Regardless of the literalness of these words, how confident are we that we can overcome those things that come between us and God? How willing are we even to “thresh” and “crush” those things that come between us and God? Sometimes the obstacle is placed in our way by outside forces, but other times we put it there. In any case, such hills will become like chaff –sooner or later — if we keep our eyes fixed on the prize: eternal life in heaven. Following the narrow road in faith is the sure path to glory (see Mt 7:13-14).
